Corrections
Corrections are used to fix mistakes in published material that don’t affect the study’s overall validity or findings. These could be small typographical errors, inaccurate author information, incorrect labelling, or other factual clarifications. Such corrections are resolved quickly and published in the journal’s next issue under the section titled “Corrections and Addendum” in order to guarantee the accuracy of the academic record and preserve openness in scientific communication. This procedure supports clear documentation for contributors, readers, and indexing databases while adhering to accepted academic publishing standards.
Retractions
Retractions are issued to address significant errors or ethical violations in published articles that compromise the integrity or reliability of the research. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to, plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication or falsification, and substantial authorship disputes. A retraction may be initiated by the editorial board, the authors, or their affiliated institutions. Prior to making a final decision, the editorial team consults independent reviewers or subject matter experts to ensure a fair and thorough assessment.
The Journal of Mechanics of Continua and Mathematical Sciences (JMCMS) follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Retraction Guidelines, which emphasize transparency, accountability, and fairness in publication practices. A formal retraction notice is published and clearly linked to the original article, which remains accessible online with a visible watermark indicating its retracted status. The notice outlines the reasons for retraction to ensure clarity for readers and indexing services.
Withdrawal
Manuscript withdrawal is permitted under specific conditions and must follow a formal process. Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript are required to submit a signed request using the designated Withdrawal Request Template, completed by the corresponding author. Withdrawals requested within 10 days of submission are allowed without penalty. However, withdrawals after peer review or acceptance will incur a withdrawal fee of INR 2000 (India) or USD 50 (international) to compensate for the editorial and review efforts already undertaken.
Withdrawal of published articles is strongly discouraged. In exceptional cases where such withdrawal is approved, the Article Processing Charges (APC) will not be refunded, and an additional penalty may apply. Withdrawn manuscripts are not published, indexed, or further processed; they are archived in the journal’s internal records and clearly marked as withdrawn to maintain transparency in editorial operations.
